Grass Roots’ Pure Card platform was dated and dysfunctional. An improvement project led by the card product team had stalled over the summer. However, the product was identified as having potential for major growth in the short and medium term. My inquiries with the Managing Director about product improvement priorities led to a renewed plan for the Pure Card site and app, with my involvement.
After initial consultations with the product team, my proposal to use a user-centred design methodology was accepted, and in collaboration with stakeholders, I assembled a working group with representatives from various teams and disciplines. Access to users turned out to be a big challenge, but I established sources of user data, analysed it, integrated it with insights from the working group and other stakeholders and used it as the basis of a series ‘design studio’ type workshops. The output of these sessions was used to inform interactive Axure prototypes and initial visual designs.
The project is was ongoing and was handed over for further development and final visual design at the point when I left the company for another opportunity.
